Flowers Joins Aggie Equestrian Horsemanship Squad

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M equestrian horsemanship coach Beth Bass announced today the addition of freshman Cori Flowers to the team.

A native of Elburn, Ill., Flowers will begin competition immediately this spring and will have freshman eligibility.

The newcomer was most recently the 2012 Illinois Quarter Horse Association (ILQHA) 14-18 All-Around Champion, Showmanship Champion, Equitation Champion, Trail Champion and Horsemanship Champion. In 2012 she was ranked among the top 20 in the nation in horsemanship, second in equitation, fifth all-around, fourth in showmanship and fifth in trail.

Flowers’ American Quarter Horse Youth Association (AQYHA) accolades include being a 2012 finalist, a 2011 World Show qualifier, a 2010 World Show semi-finalist, a 2010 Congress Top Ten Novice Youth and a 2007 Reserve Congress Champion Novice Youth. She was also named the 2010 Justin 15-18 Rookie of the Year.

Flowers, daughter of Lynda Basile is a 2012 graduate of Alpha Omega Academy and trains with Jeff Greaves. She was also involved in high school and club volleyball and was a three-year starter on her high school varsity basketball team. The animal science major plans to attend medical or dental school after graduation from A&M.
