ITA Summer Circuit Returns to Mitchell Tennis Center

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Many of the region’s top collegiate men and women’s tennis players will converge at Texas A&M’s George P. Mitchell Tennis Center beginning Friday to compete in the TAMU ITA Summer Circuit.

Men’s and women’s singles action gets underway Friday at 1 p.m., and admission to the four-day tournament is free.

Aggie freshman and No. 1 seed Anna Mamalat (Philadelphia, Pa.) highlights the 70-player women’s bracket. She received a first-round bye and is scheduled to open play Friday at 3:30 p.m. against Ryan Brown in the round of 64. Last month Mamalat won the U.S. Open National Playoffs Middle States Sectional Qualifier in West Windsor, N.J.

Four Aggies represent A&M in the 118-player men’s bracket, including No. 1 seed Junior Ore (Gaithersburg, Md.). A&M’s Jackson Withrow (Omaha, Neb.) and Jordan Szabo (Baywater, Victoria, Australia) are seeded No. 2 and 4, respectively, and teammate Behzad Minavi (Houston, Texas) is the No. 5 seed. Ore and Minavi are slated to take the court Friday at 4:30 p.m. in the round of 64, and Szabo and Withrow open at 5:30 p.m.

Doubles draws will be announced Friday.
