MEDELLIN, Colombia Texas A&M’s Jennifer Madu will be part of the United States track and field team competing at the Pan American Junior Championships held this weekend at the Alfonso Galvis Duque Stadium. The competition, which includes competitors from age 16 to 19, will have over 600 athletes from 47 countries.
Madu, who will be a sophomore with the Aggies this fall, is scheduled to compete in the 100 meters on Friday and is in the United States relay pool for the 4 x 100 on Sunday. The semifinal of the 100 will be contested at 9:30 a.m. Friday with the final taking place that evening at 6:30 p.m. The sprint relay semifinal starts at 10:20 a.m. Sunday with the final at 5:40 p.m.
Madu’s freshman season at Texas A&M included an All-America honor by placing fifth in the NCAA Outdoor 100m final. She also claimed SEC Freshman Runner of the Year honors as the Aggie women won the SEC Outdoor team title in their first year competing in the conference.
