Larson, St. Germain Earn SEC Weekly Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Fla. --- Texas A&M’s Breeja Larson and Rebecca St. Germain earned weekly honors from the Southeastern Conference on Tuesday after both logged a pair of individual wins in the Aggie women’s swimming and diving team’s win over No. 11 Florida last week.

Larson and St. Germain led No. 4 Texas A&M to a dominating win over Gators in their home pool, 196-104, as the Aggies improved their season record in dual meets to 4-0. The Aggies won 12 of 16 possible event against the Gators.

Larson, a junior from Mesa, Ariz., was impressive with wins in both breaststroke races, and posted a NCAA “A” cut in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.14. Last year, Larson set the NCAA, American and US Open record of 57.71 while winning the 2012 NCAA crown in the 100 breast. Larson logged a NCAA “B” cut while winning the 200 breast in 2:10.31.

St. Germain, a senior from San Antonio, swept both dives with scores of 309.30 in the 1-meter dive and 296.03 in the 3-meter dive. In both dives, St. Germain had to hold off her teammate Kathryn Connolly for the victory – by 51 points on the 1-meter board and 21 points in the 3-meter.

SEC FEMALE SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

Larson was impressive with wins in both breaststroke races, and posted a NCAA "A" cut in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.14) as No. 4 Texas A&M defeated No. 11 Florida 196-104. Larson logged a NCAA "B" cut while winning the 200 breast in 2:10.31 and helped the 200 medley relay team to a first-place finish in 1:39.79.

SEC FEMALE DIVER OF THE WEEK
Rebecca St. Germain, Texas A&M
Sr. • San Antonio, Texas

St. Germain won multiple events for Texas A&M during the Aggies’ 196-104 victory over Florida. She swept both dives with scores of 309.30 on the 1-meter board and 296.03 in the 3-meter dive.

SEC FEMALE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Rebecca Hamperian, Kentucky
Lexington, Ky.

Hamperian had the best meet of her collegiate career picking up her second and third career victories with a clean sweep on Friday against Auburn. The rookie started things off for the Wildcats with a 290.10 win in the women’s 3-meter dive, and after layoff between events she won the 1-meter board with a score of 310.95.

SEC MALE SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Michael Young, LSU
So. • Sydney, Australia

Young helped set the tone of the meet during LSU’s victory over Alabama on Friday. He paced the first place 400 medley relay team (3:18.18) with a lead off split of 49.83 and earned a pair of victories in the backstroke events, notching season bests in both events. Young earned 29 points over the course of the meet.

SEC MALE DIVER OF THE WEEK
Greg Ferrucci, Kentucky
Jr. • Huntersville, N.C.

Ferrucci swept both diving events against Auburn, winning the 1-meter board with a score of 370.05 and the three-meter event scoring 422.78. It’s the first time that Ferrucci has swept both events this season and they are his second and third event victories of the year.

SEC MALE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Pawel Werner, Florida
Wroclaw, Poland

Werner won a pair of events and helped the 200m medley relay team to a second-place finish during Florida’s win over Texas A&M. He swam a career-best time in the 100 free (44.98), a mark that ranks second in the SEC. Werner also paced the 400 free relay team to a first-place finish in 2:59.11.
