COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Texas A&M men’s basketball team will host Incarnate Word in an exhibition contest at Reed Arena Saturday night at 7 p.m.

The night offers fans the first real look at the A&M men's squad which features nine returning letterman and seven talented newcomers under the direction of second-year head coach Billy Kennedy, who leads the program into its inaugural season in the Southeastern Conference.

Among the familiar faces back on the court this season will be returning starters senior guard Elston Turner (Sacramento, Calif.) and junior center Keith Davis (Dallas, Texas). Turner led the Aggies in scoring last season at 13.8 points per game and this week was named one of CBSsports.com’s top shooters in the country, while Davis was a force on the defensive end, averaging nearly four rebounds a contest with a team-best 19 blocks.

Senior forward Ray Turner (Houston, Texas) and sophomore forward Kourtney Roberson (Arcadia, La.), whose season was cut short last season due to an injury, highlight seven other returner letterwinners for the Aggies.

Joining the mix and expected to contribute this season are seven talented newcomers led by local products Alex Caruso (College Station, Texas) and J’Mychal Reese (Bryan, Texas).

Incarnate Word, which competes in NCAA-II’s Lone Star Conference, is coming off a 16-11 campaign that ended with a loss to Cameron in the LSC Tournament. The Cardinals return two starters in guard Lyn’Dale Brown and center Ian Markolf along with Dionelle Rucker, who is Incarnate Word’s returning leading scorer after averaging 10.8 points in primarily a reserve role a year ago.

The Cardinals, led by seventh-year head coach Ken Burmeister, are picked fourth in the Lone Star Conference’s preseason poll.

Texas A&M officially christens the 2012-13 campaign on Friday, Nov. 9, when it hosts Louisiana Tech at Reed Arena. The game will be a part of the opening rounds of the 2012 CBE Classic, which will also see the Aggies face Troy at home on Nov. 12 before heading to Kansas City’s Sprint Center to face Saint Louis on Nov. 19 and either Kansas or Washington State the next day.

Season tickets are on sale and fans are encouraged to make sure they have a seat for all the exciting Aggie basketball action by visiting the 12th Man Foundation's Ticket Center or calling 1-(888)-992-4443.
