COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M soccer sophomore Kelley Monogue was selected to the Missouri Athletic Club’s (MAC) Hermann Trophy Watch List, the organization announced.
The McKinney, Texas, native was one of 38 female student-athletes chosen to be in the running for the highest individual award in intercollegiate soccer. The award is presented annually in St. Louis, Mo.
Monogue had a banner year as a freshman, garnering freshman all-America honors while being named the 2011 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Big 12 Tournament MVP. The forward was also selected to the All-Big 12 first team, Big 12 All-Newcomer Team and All-Big 12 Tournament Team, and was ranked the No. 1 freshman in the country by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
Monogue was one of four Southeastern Conference (SEC) women’s soccer players on the list. She was joined by Georgia’s Alexa Newfield and Erika Tymrak and Kathryn Williamson of Florida.
Honorees for the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List are picked by National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) coaches, and will be narrowed to a group of 15 semifinalists in late November. Three finalists will be announced Dec. 6 and invited to a banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Jan. 11, where the winner will be announced via news conference.
