No. 3 Texas A&M Faces Arkansas Sunday in Fayetteville

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The third-ranked Texas A&M women's tennis team continues its road swing in the Southeastern Conference Sunday, taking on No. 41 Arkansas at 1 p.m. at the Billingsley Tennis Center in Fayetteville, Ark.

The Aggies (12-1, 5-0 SEC), playing their fourth of five consecutive conference road matches, are riding a 10-match win streak after routing LSU, 7-0, Friday in Baton Rouge, La.

Arkansas, 6-9 overall and 1-4 in the SEC, is looking to get back into the win column after losing each of its last four matches, including a 5-2 setback at home against Missouri on Friday.

A&M owns an 8-6 lead in the series since 1982. Arkansas won the most recent meeting, a 6-1 decision in 2011 in Fayetteville, where the Aggies are 2-5. The teams will be meeting for the first time as conference foes since 1991 when both teams were members of the Southwest Conference.

Senior All-American and sixth-ranked Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar leads the Aggies in singles play with a 29-5 overall record, including a 10-2 mark in dual matches, as well as a 17-3 ledger against ranked opponents. Freshman Stefania Hristov is tied with Sanchez-Quintanar for most wins in dual match play with a 10-3 mark, having seen action at both No. 5 and No. 6, where she is 7-0.

Nazari Urbina, ranked 43rd, is undefeated in conference matches, having gone 5-0 at the No. 3 line. The senior moved into a tie for fifth in the A&M record books on Friday as she posted the 92nd win of her career in a straight-set victory at LSU.

No. 62-ranked Cristina Stancu is 9-2 in dual matches at the No. 2 line, including 4-1 in SEC matches. She extended her win streak to five in singles on Friday after winning the first five games en route to a 6-1, 6-3 victory at LSU.

Stancu and Hristov are No. 9 in the country in doubles with a 17-5 record. They are 8-2 in dual matches at the No. 1 court, including 3-0 in SEC matches, and they enter the Arkansas contest riding a four-match win streak.

Aggie freshmen twins Ines and Paula Deheza are 6-3 at No. 3 doubles, including 3-1 in conference contests. A&M is 7-0 when winning at No. 3 doubles and 5-0 when taking the doubles point.

Arkansas has two players ranked in the top 100 in both singles and doubles. Pang Yang is 68th and Claudine Paulson is 93rd in singles, and Paulson and partner Segou Jonker are No. 59 in doubles.

Paulson leads the Razorbacks with a 13-2 singles record in dual matches, including an 11-2 mark at No. 2, where she also is 5-0 in SEC matches.
