KANE'OHE, Hawai’i – The No. 12 Texas A&M women’s golf team is in second place after Tuesday’s first two rounds of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at the Kane‘ohe Klipper Golf Course.
The Aggies finished the day at 603 (303-300) and are just a shot back of leader Gonzaga (602) as they head into Wednesday’s final round.
Coastal Carolina (607) is four shots back from A&M and is followed by UC Davis (608), Texas State (614), Idaho (617) and Hawaii (607), Iowa (620), North Texas (622) and Washington State (624) rounds out the top 10.
Texas A&M was led by sophomore Katerina Ruzickova who is in fifth place with a 5-over 149 (74-75). She is five strokes behind leader Brittany Henderson of Coastal Carolina who posts an even 144.
Joining Ruzickova in the top 10 is freshman Patricia Garcia who is tied for 10th with an 8-over 152 (79-73). Juniors Mary Michael Maggio and Sarah Beth Davis each turned in a score of 153 (77-76) and are tied for 13th, while junior Susy Grunden is tied for 23rd with 154 (75-79). Junior Aly Smith, who is competing as an individual, is also tied for 23rd with 154 (81-73).
The third and final round gets underway Wednesday with a 1 p.m. (CT) shotgun start. A&M will play alongside Gonzaga, Coastal Carolina and UC Davis.
