A draw was conducted to determine the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds between Oklahoma and Texas A&M as both teams had identical records in the four steps of the Championship tiebreaking procedure.
Iowa State won the tiebreaker for the No. 4 seed after sweeping Kansas State in the regular season. The tiebreaker procedure was also necessary to determine seeds among Kansas, Oklahoma State and Texas. In a comparison of collective head-to-head records among those three teams, Kansas was 3-1, followed by Oklahoma State at 2-2 and Texas at 1-3.
