Texas A&M freshman Alexia Standish was named to the NCAA Raleigh Regional All-Tournament team after leading the Aggie women’s basketball team with 19 points in its Sweet 16 game versus Maryland on March 25.
From Colleyville, Texas, Standish was A&M’s top scorer going 8 of 14 (.571) from the floor and 2 of 5 (.400) from beyond the arc in the regional semifinal matchup. She added four assists, two steals and a rebound, playing a full 40 minutes for the Aggies.
The 5-foot-8 guard came into her own and led Texas A&M in scoring in the postseason with 12.8 points per game. In addition, her shooting percentage soared to 53 percent from the field and 55 percent from 3-point range.
In their school-record seventh straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the Aggies made their fourth trip in five years to the Sweet 16 and are one of just seven elite programs to have done so. With the second-toughest schedule in the nation, A&M ended its season with at 24-11 to mark its seventh consecutive 20-win season under head coach Gary Blair.
