COLLEGE STATION, Texas – For the second year in a row, Texas A&M senior pitcher Ross Stripling has been honored with a first team selection to the Capital One Academic All-District Team.
With his first team selection, Stripling is now a candidate to become a Capital One Academic All-American, which will be voted on later this month by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Stripling, a finance major from Southlake, Texas, will graduate later this week after maintaining a 3.61 GPA in the classroom while also serving in a key role for the Aggies on the baseball diamond.
After leading the nation in wins a year ago, Stripling again has excelled on the mound for the Aggies. The right-hander leads the team in wins (8), strikeouts (90) and innings pitched (94.) Additionally, Stripling has also posted a 2.59 ERA while allowing batters to hit just .225 against of him.
This past weekend, Stripling became only the fourth A&M pitcher to record 300 career strikeouts, joining Aggie legends Casey Fossum, Jeff Granger and teammate Michael Wacha. After striking out a career-high 13 batters against Texas Tech on Saturday, Stripling moved into third place all-time on the career strikeout list while also moving into fifth place all-time for career victories at Texas A&M, as well as fifth place all-time for wins in the Big 12 Conference.
