COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M equestrian sophomore Laura Sumrall took individual silver and team silver in reining at the North American Junior & Young Rider Championships in July.
Sumrall (Summitt, Miss.) and her team, USA South East, took the silver medal at the NAJYR Championships before she garnered an individual silver medal. Sumrall rode for a team-best score of 211 to lead USA South East to a 623.5 Young Riders group finish. In the Young Riders Individual Final, she earned a 214 mark on the same horse, Einsteins Fancy Pine. To qualify for the event, riders must win a qualifying class twice over the course of a year, or earn 70 points.
Sumrall returns to A&M for her sophomore season after posting conference reining wins over Kansas State and Baylor in her only two varsity rides as a freshman.
