UTEP Miners (10-1, 0-0 Conference USA) at
Texas A&M Aggies (9-4, 0-0 SEC)
College Station, Texas • Reed Arena (12,989)
Texas A&M hosts UTEP in a matchup between the Texas programs with the second- and third-most wins since 2007-08 at Reed Arena. Both teams are receiving votes in a national poll.
The game is at a special 6 p.m. tip time, an hour up from Texas A&M's normal weekday time. It can be heard on 1150 AM KZNE in Bryan-College Station or on AggieAthletics.com. Subscribers of 12thMan.TV can also watch game live online.
Holiday Hoops also continues for this game, with general admission tickets starting at just $4.
The Aggies are 173-54 since the start of 2007-08, which is the second-best winning percentage among Texas schools and the best among Texas public schools. UTEP ranks third, and second among public schools, at a 140-61 mark in that time frame.
The Aggies are 6-0 at Reed Arena this season, and have won those games by an average of 28.7 points. The Aggies are looking for their ninth perfect non-conference home season since 2004-05, as this is the final non-conference game for the Aggies prior to Alabama's visit on Jan. 5 to kick off SEC play.
Courtney Williams has been on a tear for Texas A&M, setting career-highs in scoring her last two games, with 22 points against Louisiana Tech and 27 against Arkansas State. She has averaged 20.3 points per game, dating back to Dec. 17.
UTEP enters the contest at 10-1, having picked up wins against Kansas State and SMU, and only falling to Georgia Tech. The Miners have won 20+ games both of the last two seasons, and have picked up two C-USA Championships and NCAA berths under Keitha Adams, in 2008 and 2012.
This is only the second game between the two Texas schools that are separated by 681 miles and a time zone, with the first matchup coming in 1987, a 76-46 Aggie win in Long Beach, Calif.
