COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M and the Southeastern Conference announced the 2013-14 women’s basketball schedule on Tuesday morning.
“We are very excited in the makeup of our schedule and the challenges that it will present to us in developing our team,” Texas A&M head coach Gary Blair said. “This season we will be playing 12 games against teams that participated in the 2013 NCAA Tournament, seven games against teams that participated in the WNIT and three former National Champions in Texas, Louisiana Tech, and Tennessee.”
Following an exhibition on Nov. 3, the new campaign officially gets underway on Monday, Nov. 11, when the Aggies travel to Denton for the season-opening tilt with the Mean Green of North Texas.
Just two days later the maroon-and-white will have their home-opener against Prairie View A&M before going on the road to face the Houston Cougars at historic Hofheinz Pavilion on Sunday, Nov. 6.
The Aggies will take a short break prior to their Thanksgiving trip to the US Virgin Islands where they will take part in the Paradise Jam. A&M will be featured in contests against Memphis, Texas and Syracuse. Games at the University of the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center will take place Nov. 28-30.

Following the Christmas break, Blair’s team will return to the friendly confines of Reed Arena to close out the non-conference slate with match-ups against Louisiana Tech, Arkansas State and UTEP on Dec. 28, Dec. 30 and Jan. 2, respectively.
The defending SEC tournament champions will open their conference slate with Alabama at home on Jan. 5, with a return trip to Tuscaloosa slated for Feb. 16.

Continuing the early conference road swing, A&M will face off with Georgia in Athens on Jan. 12 with a rematch set for Feb. 13 in College Station. Blair’s squad will welcome South Carolina to town on Jan. 16 followed by Vic Schaefer and the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Jan. 19.
The Aggies will then travel to Missouri to face the Tigers in Columbia on Jan. 23 before welcoming Tennessee to Texas on Jan. 26. Following the matchup with the Lady Vols, A&M will set out for a two game road stretch at Auburn on Jan. 30 and Vanderbilt on Feb. 2.

Quotes from Head Coach Gary Blair
“Our SEC Schedule presents the most challenging home conference schedule in A&M basketball history. Nationally-ranked teams from last year, including Tennessee, Kentucky, LSU, South Carolina, and Georgia, will all come to Reed Arena. All these are top 25 pre-season-ranked teams.
“Sunday, Jan. 19th will be a special game when we welcoming back Vic Schaefer and his Mississippi State squad. Vic is doing a great job in rebuilding the Bulldog program and it will be an exciting opportunity for Aggies to welcome him back to College Station.
“We are also privileged to play in the Maggie Dixon Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York against NCAA participant St. John’s. To be part of honoring the spirit of Maggie Dixon is certainly important to our team as well as taking the floor in the mecca of basketball, Madison Square Garden. UConn, last year's NCAA Champion, will make it’s second appearance in the Maggie Dixon Classic to take on 2013 NCAA Tournament Final Four participant California in the second matchup.
