Texas A&M tops Mississippi State 55-49 in OT

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Fabyon Harris scored 17 points, Elston Turner added 11 and Texas A&M rallied past Mississippi State for a 55-49 overtime win on Wednesday night.

Texas A&M (13-7, 3-4 Southeastern Conference) trailed by 14 points early in the second half, but recovered to snap a four-game losing streak. Harris made 8 of 13 shots from the field and Turner sank a crucial fadeaway jumper with 30 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Aggies a 53-49 lead.

J'Mychal Reese scored 10 points, including four in overtime.

Mississippi State's Craig Sword banked in a 3-pointer with 5.9 seconds left to tie the game at 47 and send it into overtime. Gavin Ware led the Bulldogs (7-12, 2-5) with 14 points while Colin Borchert added 10. The Bulldogs have lost five straight.

TEAM RECORDS & SERIES NOTES

● With the win, Texas A&M improved to 13-7 this season and 3-4 in SEC play.
● The all-time series between A&M and Mississippi State is now tied, 2-2.

TEAM NOTES
● Texas A&M shot 47.2 percent for the game (25-of-53), while MSU shot 40 percent (16-of-40).
● A&M outrebounded the Bulldogs 31-24 … It marked the sixth time in seven SEC games that the Aggies have owned an advantage on the boards.
● The game was the first overtime contest for the Aggies since a 81-75 win over Oklahoma on Jan. 21, 2012 … A&M is now 33-45 in overtime games

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
● Sophomore forward Kourtney Roberson finished just two points shy of his second career double-double, ending play with eight points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
● Senior guard Elston Turner, who was held scoreless in the first half, responded with 11 points after the intermission … It marked the 41st double-digit scoring contest for Turner in 52 career games at A&M.
● Junior guard Fabyon Harris led all scorers with 17 points ... It was his eighth double-digit scoring game in his last 11 contests.
● Freshman J’Mychal Reese scored six of the Aggies eight points in the overtime session.

UP NEXT
● The Aggie return to College Station to host Kentucky on Saturday … Earlier this month on Jan. 12, A&M earned an 83-71 victory over the Wildcats at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky.
● Mississippi State, meanwhile, will face LSU in Starkville on Saturday.
