Three Aggies Take NCAA Regional Honors

COLLEGE STATION, TX -- Texas A&M softball juniors Meagan May and Mel Dumezich and sophomore Nicole Morgan were named to the All-College Station Regional Team today, as voted on by the media in attendance.

May (Spring, Texas) pounded three long balls on the weekend for six RBI, while drawing three walks at the plate. The junior catcher finished the Regional with a 1.333 slugging percentage. May led the Aggies in an 11-0 victory over Bethune-Cookman with two home runs and a career-high five RBI.

Dumezich (Whiting, Ind.) was 3-for-9 at the plate with three solo bombs and four walks against NCAA Tournament opponents. The junior hurler topped the fence twice in the Aggies’ 7-4 victory over Texas State. Dumezich fanned a Regional-best 13 batters in two appearances on the weekend and allowed four earned runs in 16 innings of work.

Morgan (The Woodlands, Texas) led the field of starters with a .500 average on the weekend and scored three runs on a walk and five hits, including a double and two home runs. The first baseman started in each of the Aggies’ four games this weekend and earned two RBI. Morgan was 2-for-2 against Bethune-Cookman and added a home vs. Texas State.

The Aggies advanced to the regional championship before dropping a 2-1 game to LSU, who will play in the Columbia Regional next weekend. Tiger pitcher Rachele Fico led LSU to the championship round with a pair of victories over No. 8 A&M and Texas State, and was the unanimous choice for Regional MVP.
