Updated Rankings Have Aggie Men No. 1, Women No. 6

As Texas A&M prepares for the Penn Relay Carnival this weekend, the Aggie men moved to No. 1 in the national team computer rankings released by USTFCCCA on Tuesday while the A&M women are currently No. 6.

This is the first ranking of the outdoor season that didn’t include data from the 2011 season. As a result there are two number one teams topping the national rankings this week. In addition to the Texas A&M men taking over the No. 1 position so did the Clemson women, who claimed their third consecutive ACC title this past weekend.

The Aggie men, who are three-time defending NCAA Outdoor champions, were last ranked No. 1 in the May 31, 2011 rankings. Last weekend A&M was No. 4 in the men’s rankings while the Aggie women were No. 5.

Following A&M in the men’s top 10 are Florida, Arizona State, LSU, Florida State, USC, Indiana, Mississippi State, Texas Tech and Texas. In the women’s top 10 behind Clemson are LSU, Texas, Florida, Oregon, Texas A&M, Kansas, Arizona, Arkansas and Arizona State.

Texas A&M travels to Philadelphia this week for the three-day Penn Relay Carnival (April 26-28) at historic Franklin Field, where the crowd usually totals over 110,000 for the weekend. Live coverage of the meet is available for a subscription fee at www.pennrelays.com while TV coverage will be available live on NBC during the USA vs. The World portion of the meet on Saturday, April 28, from noon to 2 p.m.
