Texas A&M women’s basketball play-by-play broadcaster Mike Wright and color analyst Tap Bentz earned recognition as a Texas Associated Press Broadcasters (TAPB) 2011-2012 Radio Contest Winner.

The pair broadcast nearly every home women’s basketball game on the Texas A&M Sports Network. Their broadcast of A&M’s 71-70 win against USC on Dec. 18, 2011, was submitted and selected as the Division B (medium market) Sports Play-By-Play Radio Contest Winner.

The Aggie women’s hoops broadcast was judged by nine radio/TV professional on a TAPB Judging Weekend in early March in Grapevine, Texas. One of the judges praised the duo for their entry and commented, “Great job – there is a real chemistry and excellent sense of timing in a balanced format of providing the color and descriptions of this game.”

Wright has been the voice of Texas A&M women’s basketball for the past four seasons, while Bentz has been providing color commentary for the Aggies for 10 years.
