STAIRTOWN, Texas (AP) - Flames flashed 400 feet into the air
Thursday but no injuries were reported when a natural gas plant
exploded near the Central Texas town of Stairtown.
The explosion happened about 8 a.m. near the town of Stairtown,
about 5 miles northwest of Luling and 40 miles south of Austin.
Fire officials in Lockhart, about 11 miles to the northeast, said
the explosion was felt there.
The explosion happened about 2 miles behind the Prairie Lea
School. KXAN-TV quotes school officials as saying everyone at the
school is safe.
