New Orleans wants to return Houston's favor.
New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin says anyone evacuating from the Houston area ahead of Hurricane Ike is welcome in New Orleans.

Houston set up shelters and even opened the Astrodome to New Orleans residents fleeing Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Thousands went to Houston, with many staying for months or even years.
New Orleans hasn't opened any shelters, but Nagin says there are 13,000 to 15,000 hotel rooms available.

What an empty statement. Wouldn't need his approval to go there and pay money to rent a hotel room. How about a free get-out-of-jail-free card so we can "return the favor" fully?

Oh how generous of New Orleans. Are they offering these rooms free of charge???? I highly doubt it.

its funny how when louisiana was in danger of a hurricane everyone got angry about people from louisiana coming to our city for SAFETY. they posted comment after comment after comment... but yet look who is in danger now... and look who is opening their doors. i was ashamed of some of the people in this state when that happened. people from louisiana arent so bad now are they.. being from louisiana and having family still there i can say NO THEY ARE NOT!

I hope that those who choose to seek refuge in New Orleans represents Texas better than the evacuees from LA did. While there were some that were good people there were many that were really horrible. SO that said.. Those of you seeking shelter in New Orleans please don't go over there acting like fools. Please act as if your Grandmother was standing next to you ready to slap your teeth down your throat if you misbehaved.
