A man who was arrested in Conroe on a theft charge died after he was found hanged in the infirmary unit of the Montgomery County Jail.
Investigators said Douglas James Snyder, 32, was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Houston Chronicle reported that sheriff's officials said the homeless man, whose body was discovered around 5 p.m. Tuesday, evidently used a blanket to hang himself.
Snyder had been receiving medical attention for an undisclosed condition.
Conroe police arrested Snyder Sunday on a felony theft charge.
He also was wanted in Galveston County on a bond forfeiture charge.
