WE'VE RECEIVED A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS LATELY ABOUT THE SIZE OF OUR RADAR ON-LINE SINCE OUR RE-DESIGN OF KBTX.COM, AND CONCERNS ABOUT OUR CELL PHONE AND I-PAD RADAR. HERE'S THE SIMPLE ANSWER - WE ENCOURAGE THAT YOU LOCATE THE INTER-ACTIVE RADAR AVAILABLE ON ALL OUR PLATFORMS. THAT'S THE BEST PRODUCT AVAILABLE. HOWEVER - WE TOO ARE FRUSTRATED. WE UNDERSTAND THERE ARE ISSUES WITH OUR RADAR.
"It is Sunday morning and it has been raining here at Hilltop Lakes for close to an hour, a very nice rain, but yet when I pull up the radar on KBTX, it doesn't even show any rain on the radar, what is with that? I can I feel comfortable with not knowing what is going on in our area?"
"As a local consumer, I wanted to share that my wife and I both feel the KBTX mobile site weather map could use a lot of improvement."
SHEL WINKLEY ADDRESSED KATHY'S CONCERN, AND EXPLAINED THE VARIOUS COLORS ON THE RADAR. BUT PLEASE KNOW - WE HEARD YOUR CONCERNS, THEY ARE THE SAME AS OURS, AND WE ARE ADDRESSING THIS WITH OUR PROVIDER. IT SHOULD BE BETTER - AND - IT WILL BE. WE'RE WORKING ON THAT - AS WE SPEAK.
A-D WROTE IN ABOUT OUR LATE NIGHT PROGRAMMING:
"I have watched this station along with several Austin stations all my life. you have spent lots of money on the station. Your news cast is excellent! Your programing (bites)! You keep showing over and over the same antiquated shows, especially on weekends! People want and need variety! Seinfeld! Really? Brenda Sims and her constant trips. Is it profitable? Byron Allen? Nasa TV! And the shows that are worth watching you repeat as if you don't care about your viewers. Finally I'm switching to satellite - enough is enough!"
WOW! A-D - ON A ROLL. NOW, TO HIS DEFENSE, HE SENT THIS BY E-MAIL, I RESPONDED, AND WE'VE SINCE HAD A NICE CONVERSATION, NEVER KNOW, I COULD WIND UP ON HIS FRONT PORCH ENJOYING AN ICE COLD FANTA WITH HIM -HE IS WATCHING OUR CW CHANNEL, AND YES, WE CAN IMPROVE THE LATE NIGHT PROGRAMMING, ISN'T AS EASY AS IT SEEMS. AS FOR BRENDA - SHE DOES TRAVEL A LOT, PERHAPS WE ARE RUNNING THAT AD A BIT TOO MUCH. BUT SHE'S BIG WITH THE LATE NIGHT CROWD - BEING THE LATE NIGHT PARTY PERSON SHE IS.
AND THE COMMENTS KEEP COMING ABOUT THE NEW KBTX SET - AND WHILE WE'VE HAD A FEW SUGGESTIONS - WHICH WE DO APPRECIATE.
THIS ONE CAME IN FROM T-H.
Mike, I thought you'd like to know what's going on in your own studio. It looks fantastic! Will Bob French be a permanent fixture of the WX Center, preserved for future generations to admire and enjoy?
- Young Travis
AND YES - THAT COMMENT IS FROM - FORMER KBTX MORNING WEATHER GUY - TRAVIS HERZOG NOW WITH ABC-13, KTRK IN HOUSTON. TRAVIS IS STILL YOUNG, NOT AS YOUNG AS WHEN I GAVE HIM THAT NICKNAME. HE AND ERIN ARE EXPECTING THEIR THIRD CHILD NOW…AND HE STILL REFERS TO AGGIELAND - AS THE PROMISED LAND.
WE THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS, THEY MAKE US BETTER - WE'RE ALWAYS A WORK IN PROGRESS, AND YOUR OPINION ALWAYS MATTERS.
