YOUR RESPONSE TO THE BRAZOS VALLEY MEDIA GIVING BACK FUND CONTINUES TO OVERWHELM US, AND SOON THOSE FUNDS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED DIRECTLY TO FIREMAN’S FAMILIES. ON BEHALF OF KBTX, THE EAGLE, AND BRYAN BROADCASTING, WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR INCREDIBLE RESPONSE.

WELDON WRITES IN:

I don’t understand why TV and Radio stations use people whose voices are too high pitched and squeaky. They are very difficult to understand. And some on your staff are examples. They seem to be knowledgeable and good except hard to understand. Meredith is an example of someone that has a better, more understandable voice for speaking to the public. It would seem that management would consider this as a most important criteria before making a decision.

WELDON, THANKS FOR WRITING. YES, ALL FACTORS ARE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION AND WE WILL WORK WITH THESE REPORTERS OR ANCHORS TO IMPROVE THEIR DELIVERY AND INFLECTION – USING WHAT THEY DO HAVE TO MAXIMIZE THEIR PERFORMANCE.

FROM TIME TO TIME VIDEO AIRS DURING EARLY EVENING NEWSCASTS SOME MAY FIND DISTURBING.

TOM LET US KNOW ABOUT ONE SITUATION:

Mike, I appreciate the human interest story on the burned dog, and empathize with it. However, not at 6:00 during or before dinner, please. JMHO.

TOM – WRITING IN SHORT CODE – HE’S HIP AND HAPPENIN WITH THE “J-M-H-O” THING. LOOK, WE SHOULD HAVE OFFERED A VIEWER DISCRETION WARNING, AND I AGREE. WE’LL DO A BETTER JOB OF THIS IN THE FUTURE.

A LOT OF E-MAIL LATELY ABOUT OUR WEATHER STAFF ESPECIALLY DURING THIS TIME WHILE BOB FRENCH IS ON LEAVE.

AMANDA LET US KNOW WHAT HER FAMILY NEEDS IN OUR MORNING WEATHER FORECASTS:

My husband & I have been watching the 5:30 am news for years now. We have always appreciated the hour breakdown of the weather usually broken down to 10 am, noon, & 5 pm. My husband rides a bike to work & works outside all day, so he likes to know a better approximate time when the temperature should be heating up or cooling down. I also like the school day forecast since we have a 6-year-old who likes to walk to & from school if the weather permits. Can you please relay the message to Kailey so she can start putting that back in our 5:30 am BVTM forecast rotation?

WE ALWAYS LIKE TO KNOW WHAT CONTENT WILL HELP, KAILEY RESPONDED AND THESE DAYPART FORECASTS WILL ONCE AGAIN BE USED DURING BVTM. THANKS FOR LETTING US KNOW.

AND FINALLY – WE’LL SHARE MORE INFORMATION ON THIS CLOSER TO THE AWARDS CEREMONY, BUT KBTX WAS BLESSED LAST WEEK TO BE NOTIFIED OF OUR WINNING 23-AWARDS FROM TEXAS ASSOCIATED PRESS, RECOGNITION PRESENTED TO RADIO AND TELEVISION STATIONS FOR EXEMPLARY PERFORMANCE AND JOURNALISTIC INTEGRITY.

KBTX WON MORE AWARDS THAN ANY TELEVISION STATION IN TEXAS. THAT’S PRETTY GOOD, BUT ONLY SERVES AS AFFIRMATION THAT WE ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK. IN OUR BUSINESS, WHAT WE DO EVERYDAY IS EXPOSED, EVERY DETAIL. THAT’S WHY PUNCTUATION AND SENTENCE STRUCTURE ON THE WEBSITE IS SO IMPORTANT – SPELLING WHAT YOU SEE WRITTEN ON SCREEN MUST BE ACCURATE, AND EVERYTHING WE SAY MUST BE FACTUAL.

WILL WE FAIL AT THAT AT TIMES? YES. BUT FOR WHAT WE SUBMITTED, JUDGES MOSTLY FROM OUTSIDE THE STATE AND IN LARGER TELEVISION STATIONS AND NETWORKS SAW KBTX AS BEING ONE OF THE BEST IN TEXAS, AND WE ARE ELIGIBLE FOR MORE AWARDS IN APRIL BECAUSE OF THIS.

FOR NOW, WE REMAIN A WORK IN PROGRESS, BUT WITH YOUR INPUT AND THE PARTNERSHIP WE’VE ENJOYED WITH THE BRAZOS VALLEY FOR OVER 55-YEARS, WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR PART IN MAKING US BETTER. AS THE MARKET GROWS, SO MUST WE. THIS IS MERELY AN INDICATOR. WE HAVE MUCH WORK TO DO.

PLEASE BE IN TOUCH ANYTIME, OBVIOUSLY, THIS ARRANGEMENT IS WORKING WELL…WE ARE ALWAYS LISTENING, AND YOUR OPINION MATTERS TO KBTX NEWS 3.
