THE MOVE TO THE NEW KBTX NEWS SET HAS BROUGHT US MORE POSITIVE COMMENTS THAN WE EXPECTED. SOME WITH SOME SUGGESTIONS.

MARY ALICE THOUGHT WE NEEDED A CHANGE A WHILE BACK, NOT REALIZING WHAT WE INTENDED TO DO:

It was October 2011 that you and I had an exchange of emails regarding plans for the refurbishing of the KBTX set. It has now been accomplished and it all is beautiful! I'm so happy to see that ugly old couch with the mis-matched pillows, chair and, especially, that ugly flower arrangement sitting on that pockmarked table, gone.

DAVEY HAD A CONSTRUCTIVE IDEA:

I know you have just moved into your new studio, so I am hoping that the "background noise" (it sounds like a loud scanner at times) will be going away with the old studio. I do not know if it annoys anyone else, but it is very distracting to me hearing the stories.

DAVEY - YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. WE ARE ADDRESSING THAT SITUATION AND HOPE TO FIND A BALANCE. KBTX IS ALSO EXPLORING A BACKGROUND FOR RIGHT BEHIND THE MAIN ANCHOR DESK. THAT SHOULD HELP SOLVE THAT ISSUE AS WELL.

WE ARE APPRECIATIVE OF OTHER COMMENTS FROM VIEWERS - PHRASES LIKE "THAT SET IS AMAZING, A HUGE UPGRADE," " STUNNING," AND "IT LOOKS MORE LIKE HOUSTON OR DALLAS THAN COLLEGE STATION, GREAT ASSET TO THE AREA." ALL OF THESE WORDS ARE NICE, BUT AS THE STAFF WILL TELL YOU, OUR CONTENT AND HOW WE PRESENT THE NEWS MUST CONTINUE TO IMPROVE AS WELL. A NEW SET DOES NOT A COMPELLING NEWSCAST MAKE.

AS AN EXAMPLE, D & C WROTE:

Reports on the power outage in Bryan Saturday gives no location. For complete news, the location should be included.

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT, THE STORY WAS LATER EDITED TO INCLUDE THAT INFORMATION. IT WAS AN OVERSIGHT ON OUR PART AND WE WILL DO BETTER.

SHARON WAS IN TOUCH WITH KBTX AND BOB FRENCH THIS WEEK:

Hi Bob! Wondering what happened to Backyard BBQ?! It has been two weeks since last one. Are you already finished for season?
On another note, LOVE the new studio digs! Looks really nice.

SHARON - WE TOOK A WEEK OFF FOR THE JULY 4TH HOLIDAY, THEN THREATENING WEATHER KEPT US INSIDE LAST WEEK. THOUGH IT HAD CLEARED BY BACKYARD BARBEQUE TIME, BOB WAS NEEDED HERE AND SLOVACEK AGREED TO POSTPONE IT. WE'RE STILL IN THE BARBEQUE BUSINESS FOR A WHILE.

SPEAKING OF - CLARE AND ASHLEY WROTE TO THANK US FOR COMING TO THEIR HOME A FEW WEEKS BACK:

Our family would like to thank you KBTX for choosing our home to host the Backyard Barbeque. It was greater than we ever imagined. The food was delicious! Slovacek's and Ed do an outstanding job. Shel, Dewane and Mack were awesome.

FINALLY, A SPECIAL THANKS TO THE BRYAN NOON LIONS CLUB FOR INVITING ME TO SPEAK AND SHARE UPDATED INFORMATION ON KBTX THIS PAST TUESDAY. THEY MEET EACH WEEK AT THE BEST WESTERN ATRIA - AND THEY ARE ALWAYS A FUN GROUP WITH WHICH TO SPEND TIME.

NEXT WEEK - A FEW POLITICAL QUESTIONS - SOME TARGETING KBTX. THE NICE DOESN'T LAST VERY LONG.

BE IN TOUCH, WE ARE ALWAYS LISTENING, ALWAYS WORKING TO BE THE BEST, AND YOUR OPINION ALWAYS MATTERS.
