A lifelong Brazos Valley resident is celebrating a very special occasion.
Mr. Willie Franks turned 100, and living for more than a century runs in his family.
"I'm glad to be 100 years old. Never thought I would make it,” said Mr. Franks who has lived in Snook most of his life.
He's the second oldest of 10 brothers and sisters. The eldest sister is a 102 years old.
By the dozens of people that attended his birthday party at the Lone Oak Baptist Church in Snook, it's no secret that he’s a popular guy.
"I like people, and I like to talk. My wife can tell you that,” said Mr. Frank.
He has been married to his wife for 76 years.
I had to ask him his secret to living a long and happy life.
“Kind of stay away from doctors and don't take a lot of medicine. Be as good of a person as you can be. Love everybody,” said Mr. Frank.
That’s advice everyone at the party took away.
