Rodney Harris joined the News 3
weather team in July 2006 as a weather anchor. Prior to his arrival to the weather department, he also held several other positions throughout News 3, including production assistant, master control operator, and maintains a position in web development for KBTX.com.
Rodney is also a feature reporter for
Computers 101, bringing you weekly tips, tricks, and news related to
computers and technology.
Like many other weathermen, Rodney's fascination with atmospheric science began at an early age, and he has been involved with broadcasting ever since the 5th grade. Some weather events that have become most memorable were the Jarrell tornado of 1997, and coverage of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005. Rodney holds a special interest in the study of severe weather, and strives to continue to gain more knowledge about the evolution, and lifespan of severe storms and tornadoes.
Rodney is a native of Waco, TX, and graduated from Waco High School. When he's not giving a forecast, Rodney enjoys constantly learning about the ever-changing atmosphere,
while completing his degree. He's also a big sports fan and can be found
enjoying many football and basketball games. His other hobbies include eating
out, watching movies, and spending time with his younger siblings and new
fiancé!
