Carmen Izzo is back in the Brazos Valley after six years of TV, radio and a baby.
She began her TV career at KBTX in 1996 on the air as an intern. Carmen soon signed on as an anchor for Brazos Valley This Morning and News 3 at 5. In 2001, Carmen and her husband, Robert, landed jobs in cajun country. She was hired to report for WAFB-TV in Baton
Rouge, while he continued to work for an oil field service company.
A couple of years later, Robert's job took them back to their original home of Houston. Carmen reported and anchored news for radio station KTRH-740, where she won four awards. Among them, the Associated Press named her "Best Reporter in Texas."
It was Cinco de Mayo 2006, when they found out their most important job would start in about nine months. When that blue-eyed baby boy came into the world, their lives were changed forever, especially Carmen's. Her career now weighed 7 lbs, 10 oz. She never looked back.
However, months later, they moved back to the Brazos Valley, with Robert's job. Then, a rare opportunity came up in which Carmen and Robert agreed she shouldn't let pass. Anchoring the weekend news allows Carmen to stay home with her son during the week, gives Daddy and baby their time together, and keeps this new mom in touch with her "first love."
Carmen earned a Journalism degree from Texas A&M University. Her husband, also Class of '96, has a Chemical Engineering degree.
