Kristen Ross is excited to begin her career as a reporter at KBTX.
Originally from Philadelphia, Kristen first came to Texas her freshman year of college to pursue dancing as a world-famous Kilgore College Rangerette. That's when Kristen had the opportunity to perform at the Indianapolis 500, Chicago Jingle Elf Parade, the Cotton Bowl, and Governor Rick Perry's Inauguration.
During her time as a Rangerette, Kristen was interviewed and was featured in the Dallas Morning News article, "Timeless as Texas.” This is when Kristen first realized her passion for news reporting.
After finishing two of her most memorable years at Kilgore College, Kristen followed in the footsteps of her grandfather and made her way to Aggieland to attend Texas A&M. While there, Kristen was involved with Sigma Phi Lambda sorority, EmSu Dance Company, Lambda Pi Eta, and served as a research assistant under Dr. Michael Stephenson.
During the summer of 2005, Kristen studied abroad and lived with a host family in Toledo, Spain where she was immersed in the language and culture.
After graduating from A&M with a degree in Speech Communication in May 2006, Kristen had the opportunity to train and study under a 20-year veteran of NBC in Washington, DC.
Kristen is very excited to be back in the heart of Aggieland. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, being with her friends and family, and playing with her dog. She was married to Austin in July 2007.

I got to thinking today, the past year has really been a year firsts for me in so many ways even down to this blog.

I'm a Journalist Because...
...I love meeting new people and learning about different things every day. The best thing about this job is that I can come to work not knowing anything about a certain topic and by the end of the day, I can explain it backwards and forwards.
If I Wasn't a Journalist, I'd Probably Be...
...a dancer or a dance teacher. I have been dancing since I was 5 years old it's such a huge part of me. I love working with drill teams as well. I also think I would like to be a wedding planner. Making girls dreams become a reality on their special day sounds amazing.
My Very First TV Appearance was...
...probably dancing at the Cotton Bowl in the half-time show.
My First Story at KBTX was...
..."Aggie Waiting for Dad's Arrival From Space." Not only was this my first story at KBTX but it was also my first story on my first day as a reporter.
My Favorite Interview was...
...getting to sit down with some of the people who survived Hurricane Katrina and learn what they're doing now. Their stories are all so inspirational, and I feel everyone can learn from their strength and courage in a time of desperation and uncertainty.
My Favorite TV Show (besides a KBTX newscast) is...
I have several: Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, Flip This House, Top Design, and Project Runway.
My Favorite Website (besides KBTX.com) is...
...theknot.com and rangerette.com.
My Favorite Musician/Band/Group is...
| I could never choose just one, I listen to a wide variety! However, my favorite musical is WICKED!
|
My Favorite Food is...
...mashed potatoes!
My Favorite Book is...
...the Bible.
My Favorite Sports Team is...
I would like to preface this answer with this: I was born and grew up in Philadelphia, so of course, the Philadelphia Eagles. I am also an Aggie, and a huge fan of all the Fightin' Texas Aggie teams! WHOOP!
My Favorite Quote is...
..."When you find the person you're supposed to spend the rest of your life with, you want the rest of your life to start THAT second." -When Harry Met Sally
My Role Model(s) is/are...
...my parents, for always supporting my dreams, and always dreaming big with me.
When I'm Not at Work, I...
...am planning my wedding, building my first home, playing with my cocker spaniel puppy, hanging out with friends, or looking for story ideas!
Something People Might Not Know About Me is...
...I don't eat anything green, and my hair is naturally curly/wavy.
