Ashlea Sigman

Reporter Ashlea Sigman may be new to the Brazos Valley, but not to Texas. Over the years, she’s called Amarillo, Wichita Falls, Fort Worth and Denton home. Though not an A&M grad herself, there is an Aggie ring in her family: her dad received his Master’s from TAMU.
A native Arkansan, Ashlea’s lived several places in Arkansas and Missouri, as well as North Carolina, Tennessee, Washington, DC and Pennsylvania. After finishing high school in the heart of Amish Country, Ashlea started her college studies at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. A transfer landed her at American University, in Washington D.C., and then, an internship landed her in Dallas. The Lone Star State was just too good to leave, so Ashlea transferred again and graduated from the University of North Texas in Denton with a combined degree in History, Journalism, and Political Science. She also picked up a minor in Spanish, and her fair share of radio/TV/film classes.
Before coming to KBTX, Ashlea worked on air at the NBC station in Wichita Falls, and off air at the NBC station in Dallas. During her undergraduate years, she interned at WFAA and NBC 5, both in the DFW area, and got some airtime during her internships at KRLD News Radio and WBAP News Radio. She also anchored and reported for her school’s award-winning radio station, KNTU. Most of her college summers were spent traveling across the US as a camp instructor and judge for the National Cheerleaders Association.
Ashlea has fallen in love with Aggieland and can’t believe how nice everyone here is. When she’s not at work, Ashlea loves getting outside and exploring the area, hunting for vintage and antique bargains, photographing just about everything and jogging. She also cheers on the Dallas Mavericks and Texas Rangers every chance she gets.
