Barbara Smith has been anchoring Brazos Valley This Morning since August 2001 when she returned to KBTX after a lengthy leave of absence. 

Barbara originally worked for KBTX from 1992 until 1994 immediately following her graduation from Texas A&M in May 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. 

Aside from television, Barbara has worked as a radio news director, marketing associate, and as the Main Street Project Coordinator for the City of Bryan. 

However, television news is her career of choice. She enjoys relaying information that can be both helpful, and in the case of the morning show, entertaining to the viewers. She enjoys interacting with the community through the live interviews on the morning show, and also appreciates viewer feedback (who knew a haircut could generate so much e-mail!). 

When she's not at the station, Barbara is hard at work at her "other" job: mom to two boys and wife to one. 

Barbara is a Houston-area native, but considers Bryan-College Station to be her home. She says she came to A&M in 1987 and just forgot to leave.
