Reporter Alex Villarreal joined the KBTX news team in June 2010.
Before moving to the Brazos Valley, she worked as a reporter and video journalist in Waco, Temple and Killeen for NBC's KCEN. Most recently Alex worked for CBS affiliate, KENS 5 in San Antonio, Texas as a news and traffic reporter. She also produced a consumer-related show, called Eyewitness Wants To Know. This is where Alex discovered her passion for resolving viewers' issues.
Alex attended Midwestern State University on an academic and cheerleading scholarship. She graduated, with honors, and a degree in Mass Communications. She also picked up a minor in TV broadcasting. Alex reported and anchored for her university's award-winning TV station, MSU2.
Alex is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. In 2009, she was awarded a grant to attend the association's National Conference in Puerto Rico, where she was able to put her Spanish to good use.
When Alex isn't solving your issues or tracking down story ideas, she spends her free time with friends, family and her cat, "Puss in Boots." She also enjoys a good book and teaching group fitness classes.
