Pardon Our Dust...

Updated: Fri 5:19 PM, Jun 15, 2012

Pardon our dust, but for the first time in more than a decade, KBTX is giving its home for news, weather and sports a makeover.

Over the next couple of weeks, News 3 will be renovating its studio, which has been in use since May 2000. In the old set's place will go a new arrangement constructed locally by Kent Moore Cabinets over the past several months.

While the deconstruction and reconstruction of the studio takes place, News 3 newscasts will emanate from a temporary set in the newly-renovated newsroom.

Construction crews hope to have the new studio ready for use by the end of June.

In early 2000, the current studio was built on the south end of KBTX's first and only home on 29th Street in Bryan. While there have been smaller changes like the creation of a new sports center, the set has remained largely the same for more than 12 years.

Over the past few months, the region's media leader has been making $6 million worth of changes. News 3 became the first television station to air high definition newscasts from here in the Brazos Valley. The control room was completely redone and state-of-the-art electronic equipment was installed. The newsroom, which serves as the backdrop to the set, was also remodeled by Kent Moore Cabinets.
