Signs point to the resignation of a key Texas A&M official, as it appears Vice President for Student Affairs Dean Bresciani has been asked to step down.

An internal student affairs department e-mail obtained by News 3 from Associate Vice President for Student Affairs David Parrott states Bresciani was asked to submit his resignation effective Friday. Parrott's e-mail says he has been appointed the interim vice president.

Texas A&M's website confirms Parrott as acting vice president.

"I think we have an obligation to continue to set the standard for excellence in the Student Affairs profession and at Texas A&M University," Parrott writes. "Our commitment should remain: excellence in delivery of service to students and in providing the high impact educational experiences that are vital to the success of our students and that set us apart from most universities. In other words, stay the course."

The Aggie website biography for Bresciani states he came to the university in the summer of 2004. He was the third person to hold the student affairs' vice presidency, and held positions on numerous campuses prior to A&M, including at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before he arrived in Aggieland.

A person in Parrott's office referred questions to a university spokesperson. A&M declined to comment on personnel matters when asked Monday about rumors of Bresciani's status.

Dr. Bresciani probably disagreed with her in some manner so therefore, her modus apperandum is to fire those who disagree with her. To her, loyalty means not to disagree. Talk about poor leadership. Isn't it ironic that when Murano first became president she talked about carrying on Dr. Gates' vision. Well, pretty much many of the top leaders he brought have all been fired and her cronyism continues. *shaking head* She's Perry's pawn, but that was obvious from the beginning. I find it interesting that Van Alstyne was also in the running for the VP position but due to some uncontrollable urge to belittle an undergraduate student (a Hispanic student, nonetheless) during his interview, (I am told) he didn't get the job. Now he's reporting to Murano and Bresciani is out. Wow! While politics are being played and she's being controlled by those that put her in the President's Office, (Perry) the students continue to pay higher tuition and more fees. Sad!

I think the forced resignation of The Dean of Student Affairs has to do with his unwillingness to support the return of Aggie Bonfire to Campus. Another issue on the adgenda for Gov. Perry and President Mureno!

The forced resignation of the Dean of Student Affairs is a huge mistake! What a loss to the Texas A&M university. We will ever see the day that the regents regain their senses and ask for Elsas' resignation? How much damage will she be allowed to do before she is gone?

What a huge loss for students/TAMU; President Murano has failed us terribly. She and her buddies are making six figure salaries and she lives in the house paid by tax payer of texas. Students continue to pay more in fees so these top people can live a lavish life. She needs to be replaced.

BRAVO Dr. Murano. I believe that Dr. Bresciani was responsible for the firing or two great members of the MSC staff. It seems they were men of honor and high moral standing.

I met Dr. Bresciani when he was VP of Student Affairs for the University of North Carolina and was very impressed with him and his work. In fact, I was suprised when he left UNC and came to A&M. I knew that UNC thought very highly of him and did not want loose him. He had character and was well respected by the administration and student body.I cannot imagine the man I knew doing anything that would warrent firing except being in the wrong position when a new president comes in. I am sure that this is all that is going on.

In a few years when Dr. Murano moves on to bigger and better things, people will be saying the same things about her as people are now saying about Dr. Gates. New Administrators bring new people with them. Gates did the same thing when he replaced Bowen. There were uproars back then about how he was firing good people and hurting TAMU. Now that Gates is gone people look back at his days with praise. The same will be true with President Murano in the years to come.

Obviously he was fired. Perhaps he played his stereo too loud (he is Dr Murano's only neighbor). I think it very significant that in the same reorgization announcement, Lt. Gen. John Van Alstyne, Commandant of the Corps will now report directly to the President. I doubt if Revelle has anything to do with it, but I'll bet the General knows the whole story.

what a sad failure by Dr.Murano to not recognize the value of Dr. Bresciani, a man who dedicated himself 24/7 to Texas A&M

Hmmm. No mentino in this story that the Corps comes under the direct supervision of the president, not the VPSA. Hmmm. Wonder if this has anything to do with the new Revelle

As a student in the late 70's I was blessed to interact with Dr. Koldus, the original vice president FOR students. He made an IMPACT like no other. He did that because he poured into the life of students. He cared about them and all they were dealing with. Texas A&M students deserve such a person in this position. Texas A&M should be looking hard for someone to continue the legacy left by Dr. Koldus.

As predicted by many, Murano is purging the University leadership of those who, well, basically she doesn't like.

Was he asked to step down or did he decide to pursue other carreer oppurtunities?

Anybody know why?
