The Center for Executive Development (CED) at the Mays Business School presents the second session of the MPACT Speaker Series. Through this series, our purpose is to provide leaders, entrepreneurs, and members of the Brazos Valley with inspiration and ideas to transform their professional lives.

Marche and Martha will give you a radically honest look at entrepreneurship and tell their stories from two equally valid perspectives. From developing a screenplay and character sketches to deciding on ticket prices, these two ladies will let you in on most of their secrets to success as they continue to figure it all out!
Through MPACT, CED designs events and opportunities that positively “MPACT” communities by helping people and organizations build momentum, improve performance, renew attitudes, value collaboration and develop transformational leaders.

Doors open at 6:30 and keynote will begin at 7:00 pm with networking opportunities to follow.

Admission is free but RSVP is required.

Homeschool Days at Washington on the Brazos

Washington on the Brazos State Historic Park
The Star of the Republic Museum and Barrington Living History Farm are pleased to present a program specifically for home school families.

On Wednesdays & Fridays in September and Thursdays in October, the staff at the museum and the farm will present Childhood in Early Texas, an interactive, hands-on program for the entire family. Discover what life was like for a child in the mid-19th century during a visit to this historic site. In the museum, learn about childhood chores, clothes, and schools, and then make some old-fashioned toys to take home. Take a break with a picnic lunch in the pecan grove along the Brazos River. At Barrington Farm, experience life on an early Texas farm, complete with a stroll through the cotton field, picking a boll or two along the way.

Curriculum materials including lesson plans and activity sheets will be available online to help continue the learning experience at home.

Central MOMS is a group of mothers who come together to fellowship and build relationships because busy moms need time with other moms. Join us to meet other mothers in our area, have brunch, and enjoy adult time while your children are take care of in the nursery. Childcare is available for birth-preschool aged children.

Central Moms meet alternating Thursdays from September - December from 9:30 - 11:30 am.

Overview: The Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) prohibits entities from using information of a genetic nature in making employment decisions. Originally designed to cover insurance organizations it does have an impact on employers who gather medical information in relations to wellness programs and other health related situations. It even has an impact on noting that an employee is participating in a walk for some disease. Employer must be careful in how the interact with employees, doctors and the insurance companies. We will talk about who is covered and how you can safeguard the company from violations of this law.
