The Star of the Republic Museum and Barrington Living History Farm are pleased to present a program specifically for home school families.

Discover what life was like for a child in the mid-19th century during a visit to this historic site. In the museum, learn about childhood chores, clothes, and schools, and then make some old-fashioned toys to take home. Take a break with a picnic lunch in the pecan grove along the Brazos River. At Barrington Farm, experience life on an early Texas farm, complete with a stroll through the cotton field, picking a boll or two along the way.

Library Issues Forum: “COWBOYS” with Bud Force and John Langmore

Event Dates and Times

9/21/2017
George Bush Presidential Library and Museum , 1000 George Bush Dr. College Station, TX 77841

Join us at the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum on Thursday, September 21, as we welcome filmmaker Bud Force and photographer John Langmore as they discuss the making of their documentary film, COWBOYS. Told in the cinematic tradition of classic westerns, COWBOYS offers the opportunity to ride alongside modern working cowboys on some of America's largest and most remote cattle ranches. COWBOYS documents the lives of the men and women working on "big outfit" cattle ranches - some of which are over one million acres - and still require a crew of horseback workers to tend large herds of cattle. COWBOYS is currently being filmed and is scheduled for release in 2018. John Langmore will also be showing and discussing photographs from his five-year project documenting America’s working cowboys. John traveled to twelve big outfits to create this body of work which is set to be published as a book next year. A former working cowboy himself, he will be sharing his intimate knowledge of this unique American icon and the state of his existence at the outset of the 21st century. This program is offered free of charge, but reservations are recommended. A reception will follow.
To reserve your seat, please email reservations.bush@nara.gov or call 979-691-4014.
