Homeschool Days at Washington on the Brazos

Event Dates and Times

9/11/2017 - 10/27/2017
Washington on the Brazos State Historic Park
The Star of the Republic Museum and Barrington Living History Farm are pleased to present a program specifically for home school families.

On Wednesdays & Fridays in September and Thursdays in October, the staff at the museum and the farm will present Childhood in Early Texas, an interactive, hands-on program for the entire family. Discover what life was like for a child in the mid-19th century during a visit to this historic site. In the museum, learn about childhood chores, clothes, and schools, and then make some old-fashioned toys to take home. Take a break with a picnic lunch in the pecan grove along the Brazos River. At Barrington Farm, experience life on an early Texas farm, complete with a stroll through the cotton field, picking a boll or two along the way.

Curriculum materials including lesson plans and activity sheets will be available online to help continue the learning experience at home.

Run for Education 5K

Event Dates and Times

9/23/2017 - Starts: 7:00 AM
Rudder High School Bryan, TX
A major initiative of the Hispanic Forum of Bryan/College Station is to provide scholarships to
educate exclusively local students – especially young students of Hispanic origin. The Hispanic
Forum works to secure funds for scholarships, promote community-awareness and activities,
and to effect change by continuing a dialogue and active involvement with area school districts,
community officials, political and civic leaders. The generosity of our community and
organizations like yours has allowed the Hispanic Forum to provide scholarships totaling
$100,000 to students at our 2017 Gala.

The Hispanic Forum will be hosting the 5th Annual 5K Run for Education starting at Rudder High
School on September 23, 2017. We believe this is the perfect avenue to encourage our
community to have a healthy, active lifestyle and focus on the benefits of education. The money
raised will be awarded to our Bryan/College Station High School Seniors at our 2018 Hispanic
Forum Gala. Sponsorship of $250.00 will allow us to include your name on the 5K Run for
Education t-shirts and 1 runner is eligible to register at no additional cost (please complete the
Registration form).

With a $1,000 sponsorship, your company name will be prominently displayed in ads, on the 5K
Run for Education t-shirts, and 4 runners are eligible to register at no additional cost (please
complete the Registration form). Please send me your company name as you want it to appear
on the 5K Run for Education t-shirt as soon as possible. Also, please send the check and
runner registration forms to Hispanic Forum, P.O. Box 4690, Bryan, TX 77805.
