9th Annual Boonville Days Heritage Fair

Date(s): 10/4/2014

The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History- 3232 Briarcrest Drive Bryan, TX 77802
Held the first Saturday in October, the Fair features scores of demonstrations of 19th century Texas skills, crafts, art, and music & dance. Because Brazos Valley has a rich and diverse heritage, this includes a wide variety of ethnic groups, re-enactors, artisans, and others. The event is free to the public, and visitors may also enjoy free admission to the Museum.

Six years ago, the Buffalo Stampede Races were added, and now feature a half-marathon and a 5k race. Attracting runners from all over the state, the races are held at 7:30 am on Saturday morning. Three years ago, a Chuck Wagon Cook-Off was also added, featuring authentic period wagons from the 19th century. The cook-off lasts two days, Friday and Saturday, and features delicious food cooked for the public on Saturday.

The best heritage fair in Brazos County, Boonville Days reaches more than 1,000 people each year! Please call or email the Museum for more information:

Runners will be stampeding their way through Bryan/College Station, Texas on October 4th at 7:30am as the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History hosts its 6th annual Buffalo Stampede!

This year’s races are even better than past stampedes! Athletes will have the opportunity to show off their skills by running 21,100 meters (a half-marathon) or 5,000 meters (3.1 miles). The course begins at the Museum, is USATF certified and the races are timed with Chrono Track System disposable bib tags to allow for accurate timing of all our runners. All Sports Timing is conducting the race and race results will be available at www.allsportstiming.com. Our popular race course was revised last year, and we will be keeping that excellent course this year.

Runners of all ages are welcome, and we offer beautiful custom trophies and medals for the top females and males in each age division ranging from 12-and-under to 70 plus! Half-Marathon runners will receive finishers’ medals. Overall male and female finishers will receive cash awards ($500 for Half-Marathon, $250 for 5K) as well as special buffalo sculpture trophies. First, second, and third place awards will be given in each 10-year age group. Age-group awards will be buffalo head trophies for first place and buffalo medallions for second and third places.
