The Arts Council of Brazos Valley is pleased to announce the return of our summer camps and classes! Programs include favorites Comic Book Camp and Fine Art Camp, as well as the new Broadcast Camp. The Arts Council is also offering an adult class, Vibrant Watercolors for Beginners.
Comic Book Camp is returning in July! Comic Book Campers in grades 3-7 will learn the basics of drawing the human figure and scenery while creating their own superhero! Join our instructor, Blinn College Professor Tim Weaver, for this fun and exciting opportunity. Comic Book Camp runs from 9am-noon July 8-12 and July 15-19 – sign up for one or both sessions!
Fine Art Camp is an all-day camp that will feature acrylic and watercolor painting, sketching, and many more fun art activities for students grades 2-6. Sessions run from 9am-3pm June 3-7 and June 10-14. All art supplies will be provided, but don’t forget to bring a lunch!
Campers in grades 3-7 will create their own game show, newscast, and more during Broadcast Camp! Working with local media outlets, kids will learn more about the science behind TV and radio broadcasts, use camera and sound equipment, and make their own shows. Broadcast Camp runs from 9am-noon on June 17-21.
Vibrant Watercolor for Beginners is a great opportunity to learn the basics of watercolors. Local artist Monika Pate will teach you how to make the most of your palette. Monika’s most recent exhibitions include a solo Arts Council Texas Gallery exhibit Dramatic Light and Color and an exhibition at College Station City Hall. This class makes a great gift for the aspiring artist in your life or for Mother’s Day! This 2-week course meets every evening from 5:30-7:30pm June 3-7 and 10-14.
Registration is currently open for camps and classes so be sure to sign up today! For more information or to register call (979) 696-2787, or visit acbv.org/programs/classes.
