The Brazos Valley Veterans Memorial Board of Directors is honored to host three events for the Annual Veterans Day Ceremony, Monday, 11 November 2013.

4:00 p.m. - Dedication of "Letters from Home", the second WWII Memorial on the Lynn Stuart Pathway. The keynote speaker will be World War II veteran MAJ John H. "Lucky" Luckadoo, member of the 100th Bomb Group. The memorial is sculpted in the image of the late LT C.J. Allen. The statue features a U. S. Army infantryman resting on a stone wall while reading a letter from home. The memorial pays tribute to the men and women who served in the European Theater of Operations and those who supported the war effort from the Homefront. The memorial was made possible by the family of Mr. C.J. Allen.

5:00 p.m. - Brazos Valley Veterans Memorial board member, Bill Youngkin, will read aloud the names of the veterans being added to the Wall of Honor. Mr. Youngkin also writes the veteran biographies "Brazos Valley Heroes" for The Eagle. Currently, there are over 4,500 names engraved in the granite walls of the memorial. Over 125 names will be added this year. The cost of adding a name is $100 and the deadline each year is August 15th.

5:30 p.m. - Annual Veterans Day Program - MAJ Lyckadoo will also be the keynote speaker for the respectful and patriotic event that will take place at the Louis L. Adam Plaza, Brazos Valley Veterans Memorial. A special seating section will be set aside for veterans. Members of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, the Texas A&M University Corps of Cadets, the Corps Center Guard and the Ross Volunteers will participate in helping us to make this annual event most memorable.
