BBB TO HONOR DESERVING COMPANIES

College Station, TX 77840
The Better Business Bureau is soliciting nominations for the BBB Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics. The Torch Award is the highest honor the BBB can give to a deserving business. It is an award that crosses all industry and product lines and centers solely on ethical behavior in the marketplace. Since ethics is not a function of size, no business is too large or too small to be considered.

Consumers look for certain traits in the companies where they work and that they patronize. Some of those traits include high ethical standards in dealing with customers, employees, and suppliers; effective, straight-forward advertising; friendly, helpful employees; or simply a good reputation built by a history of solid business practices within the community. These are some of the same things the BBB is looking for in a Torch Award recipient.

The best way to show appreciation to a business is to continue to be a loyal patron and/or employee. But why not recognize your favorite place for its efforts? Let the whole community know the business is deserving by submitting a nomination for the Torch Award.

The award is open for all for-profit businesses that serve retail and wholesale markets. Non-profits are not eligible. No business is too large or too small to be considered. The award is categorized so that a 2-employee company does not have to compete with a 150-employee company. BBB accreditation is not a requirement; however, the business’s business review with the BBB will be considered in the selection process. Self-nominations are not accepted.

Last year’s winners include BMI Defense Systems, Readfield Meats & Deli, University Title Company and Aggieland Automotive

A nomination form is available on the BBB website, www.bryan.bbb.org or may also be obtained at the BBB office by calling 979-260-2222 or 1-800-392-3798. Deadline for submission is March 15, 2013.

The presentations will be at a luncheon in late spring.

For further information, call Bill McGuire, President, 979-846-0099 or 800-392-3798 or you may write: 418 Tarrow, College Station, TX 77840

National DEA Drug Take Back

Sep 29, 2012 Drug take Back Box available for 24 hour a day 7 days a week every day of the year use.

1700 Hwy 21 West Bryan, TX. 77803
The National DEA drug take back is being held September 29th 2012. The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office is hosting the Brazos County location for that event at 1700 Hwy 21 West Bryan, TX. 77803

To kick off the event the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office is unveiling the first local Drug take Back Box available for 24 hour a day 7 days a week every day of the year use.

The rate of prescription drug abuse in the United States is extremely high and studies show that teens who abuse prescription drugs often obtain them from family and friends due to easy access to home medicine cabinets. In addition, many Americans do not know how to properly dispose of their unused medicine, as they often flush them down the toilet or throw them away—both potential safety and health hazards.

Every 6 months the DEA ask all citizens are to clean out their homes medicine cabinets from outdated and unused or unwanted medications. Why wait 6 months. The Sheriff’s Office along with the assistance of the Brazos County health Department have purchased a drug take back box that is permanently mounted under constant surveillance in the front lobby of the Sheriff’s administration building at 1700 Hwy 21 Bryan TX. All Brazos County citizens are encouraged to use the box whenever they realize they are in possession of these medications

I will be distributing 180 of my Century Tree seedlings to Aggies in the College Station and greater Houston areas. These trees are two years old and 5-6 feet tall. Sale proceeds from my tree sales will fund the $100,000 Century Tree President's Endowed Scholarship at the Texas A&M Foundation. Am also delivering U-Haul truckloads of trees to Grapevine on 9/15 and to West Texas (Abilene, San Angelo, and Austin) on 9/29-30. Over 500 Century Tree seedlings have been raised in my back yard in Vernon, TX over the last two years. Sprouted from acorns harvested in October 2010, these trees are being purchased by Aggies all over Texas and across the southern U.S. Over 400 seedlings have been reserved for sale in advance. A few trees are still available for sale, but the College Station truckload is full - and I can't accept more tree orders. If you would like to cover my College Station tree distribution, please feel free to do so.

Girls Night Out at Gunsmoke Shooting Range

Gunsmoke Shooting Range 10076 CR 295, Snook, TX 77878
A FUN SOCIAL EVENT FOR LADIES!! It is important for women to have a place to practice their shooting skills in a relaxed and supportive environment. We also get together to have fun with a different twist. It is our goal to see women take an interest in firearms not only for self defense but for recreation! More often than not, women do not have the confidence to walk into a gun store let alone a gun range and shop or practice on their own. Our main goal is to EDUCATE, ENCOURAGE and EMPOWER you. If you are going to own a gun, you better know how to use it correctly and effectively. Girls Night Out will provide the education and practice time for ANYONE who is interested in learning!!
