Brazos Valley Symphony presents "Requiem"

Under the baton of Guest Conductor Maestro Jess Wade, The Brazos Valley Chorale, Texas A&M Century Singers, and Blinn College Choir will join forces with the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra to present a work of fierce intensity and dramatic scope . . . Brahms’ A German Requiem. Featuring two guest vocalists, acclaimed lyric soprano, Mela Dailey and charismatic opera star, baritone Kelly Markgraf, this monumental work is considered to be one of the most moving works ever written.

Brazos Valley Symphony presents "Holiday Pops Concert"

Get into the holiday spirit! Bring the entire family to hear favorites such as “Silent Night” and “White Christmas”, participate in an old fashioned sing-along, and attend a cookie reception immediately following the concert hosted by the Friends Association of the Symphony Orchestra. This concert has become a signature Brazos Valley holiday tradition and will feature the outstanding BVSO Brass musicians, organist James Faith, The Sanctuary Choir and Canticle Bells of Christ United Methodist Church, and the CSHS Varsity Women's Choir and more!

Brazos Valley Symphony presents "Jazz, Romance, and Javier!"

Rudder Theatre at Texas A&M University, College Station, TX
Music Director Marcelo Bussiki has crafted a musical delight filled with a little bit of romance, a little bit of jazz, and a whole lot of fun. The BVSO will perform modern composer Claude Bolling’s popular Suite for Violin and Jazz Piano Trio, where audiences hear Baroque elegance mixed with modern swing. BVSO’s own Concertmaster will then debut his composition of Romantic South American and Latin Jazz. Both works will feature Javier Chaparro and his eclectic fusion band Salúd.

Brazos Valley Symphony presents "Youth Concerto Competition"

Peace Lutheran Church, College Station, TX
Finalists will be chosen to perform in the finals of the 18th Annual Brazos Valley Youth Concerto Competition on Feb. 7, 2016. The competition is sponsored by the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra and its support guild, the Friends Association of the Symphony Orchestra (FASO).

Each fall, area students through 12th grade are invited to submit an entry on CD of their performance of any movement from any concerto for any instrument, with a maximum length of 12 minutes. Entry deadline is December 11, 2015--click here for more information about the competition entry guidelines. The finalists will then perform their entries from memory at the finals in front of a panel of three judges and an audience.

The finals this season will be at 3 p.m. on Feb. 7, 2016 at Peace Lutheran Church in College Station. The public is invited. FASO will pay the entry fee for the winner to the next prestigious Juanita Miller Concerto Competition in Dallas for which the youth qualifies.

Brazos Valley Symphony presents "Follow the Drinking Gourd"

Maestro Marcelo Bussiki welcomes the award winning Marian Anderson String Quartet to the stage as they perform Follow the Drinking Gourd by Jonathan McNair. The BVSO commissioned McNair to create a very special arrangement of his work specifically for this performance. The Symphony also performs Pulitzer Prize winning composer, George Walker’s deeply expressive Lyric for Strings. Then experience Grant Still’s groundbreaking work for full orchestra, Symphony No. 1 “Afro-American”. This is the first symphony composed by an African American that was performed by a major orchestra.

This show-stopping season finale of the BVSO’s 34th season will have everyone dancing with an all-Gershwin program highlighting the works of this favorite American composer. Music Director Marcelo Bussiki will lead the orchestra in a program that will span the great composer’s career from Crazy for You, Porgy and Bess, Rhapsody in Blue and then closing with a stunning performance of An American in Paris. Watch acclaimed pianist, Alexandre Dossin’s fingers fly as he joins the symphony for this exciting performance. If you like Gershwin, you will love this concert. If you haven’t heard Gershwin, then you are in for an incredible evening.

Feast of Carols

Reservations open November 5th for the Bryan High Choir's “Feast of Carols,” production the annual choir holiday event held in the Blue Commons area at Bryan High School.

The Bryan High Orchestra will present a holiday concert to begin the evening. Performances are Dec. 10, 11, & 12 at 6 p.m. each evening and will take place in the Bryan High Blue Auditorium.

Reservations for "Feast of Carols" are $20/per person and include a traditional Renaissance-period meal. This year’s menu includes half-a-chicken (with herbal seasoning), potato soup, fresh garlic green beans, grapes, cheese, French bread, wassail, desert and water.

In recent years the choir has updated the menu and the decor adding special lighting, draperies and chandeliers. We hope you join us this year; seats will go quickly!
