Art Workshop with Charles Wallis: Strategies and Composition in Abstract, Non-Objective and Impressionistic Painting

Safety Awareness and Self-Defense Workshop

The Sexual Assault Resource Center is preparing to host its annual free Safety Awareness and Self-Defense Workshop in Navasota. The workshop is appropriate for all ages and everyone is invited to attend. Topics to be covered include internet and personal safety and legal rights for victims of crime. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn and practice self-defense techniques with martial arts professionals. The workshop will take place on December 4th, 2012 from 6-8pm at the First United Methodist Church. Refreshments will be provided and door prizes will be available.

Bryan, Tex.- The Sexual Assault Resource Center is preparing to host its annual free Safety Awareness and Self-Defense Workshop in Caldwell. The workshop is appropriate for all ages and everyone is invited to attend. Topics to be covered include Internet and safety and crime victim rights. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn and practice self-defense techniques with martial arts professionals. The workshop will take place on November 29th, 2012 from 6-8:30 pm at the Caldwell Elementary School Cafeteria. Refreshments will be provided and door prizes will be available. FREE Self Defense and Safety Awareness Workshop

The Sexual Assault Resource Center will host its 4th annual Safety Awareness and Self Defense Workshop on December 4, 2012 from 6:00pm – 8:15pm. The event is free, and open to ages 12 to adult. It will be held at Centerville High School in the Cafeteria (813 South Commerce). Presentations will include personal safety, internet safety, and interactive self defense maneuvers. Light refreshments and door prizes will be available to participants. Speakers include SARC, Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Judge Keith Folterman, and Dr. Hume. SARC, Texas A&M University Police Department and the Brazos County Sheriff's Office are hosting a free Safety Awareness and Self-Defense Workshop. The workshop is appropriate for ages 17 and up (15-16 when accompanied by an adult) and everyone is invited to attend. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn and practice self-defense techniques with law enforcement professionals. The workshop will take place on September 23rd, 2012 from 10:00am - 5:000 pm at the TAMU Police Department Training Room. Lunch will be provided. Space is limited.

Darkness to Light

Scotty’s House Child Advocacy Center will host the Darkness to Light program at its facility, located at 2424 Kent Street in Bryan.

The program is free and open to any concerned citizen, but registration is required.

Darkness to Light is a non-profit organization whose mission is to reduce the incidents of child sexual abuse by shifting the responsibility from children to adults. This is accomplished through an award winning media campaign which raises public awareness and directs adults to educational tools that will educate them on how to prevent, recognize and respond to sexual child abuse and motivate them to courageous action.
