Whether you are a beginner wanting to learn more or an accomplished jewelry artist we invite you to join us for the Brazos Valley Jewelry Artist Guild (BVJAG) Monthly Meeting.

Margie Mason will teach us how to create a wire-wrapped ring. The ring is adjustable so it will fit any finger. Tool List to bring if you have them: Flat nose pliers, Chain nose pliers, Wire or Flush Cutter, Sharpie marking pen, Steel ruler, Steel Ring mandrel and a rawhide hammer. Also, if you want to twist the wires on one side then a pin vise will be required.

Free Class - Computer Basics

Sexual Assault Resource Center's Advocate Training

Sexual Assault Resource Center
The class is open to individuals interested in serving as advocates for survivors of sexual assault, their family members and loved ones.

Advocates staff the 24-hour crisis hotline as well as accompany sexual assault survivors to local hospitals, law enforcement agencies, and court proceedings.

Participants will complete a course covering the legal and medical arenas of sexual assault, as well as crisis intervention techniques and more. Upon completion of the 40 hour course, advocates are certified through the Office of Attorney General.

Advocates must be at least 18 years of age, submit an application, come into the office for an interview, and pass a background check. Advocates are requested to make a 6 month commitment to the center and sign up for 2-3 hotline or escort shifts per month. Advocates are able to answer the phone from their home as all calls are forwarded from the center to either a landline or mobile phone.
