Sexual Assault Resource Center
The class is open to individuals interested in serving as advocates for survivors of sexual assault, their family members and loved ones.

Advocates staff the 24-hour crisis hotline as well as accompany sexual assault survivors to local hospitals, law enforcement agencies, and court proceedings.

Participants will complete a course covering the legal and medical arenas of sexual assault, as well as crisis intervention techniques and more. Upon completion of the 40 hour course, advocates are certified through the Office of Attorney General.

Advocates must be at least 18 years of age, submit an application, come into the office for an interview, and pass a background check. Advocates are requested to make a 6 month commitment to the center and sign up for 2-3 hotline or escort shifts per month. Advocates are able to answer the phone from their home as all calls are forwarded from the center to either a landline or mobile phone.
