Flock Your Friends! Fundraiser

Feb 6, 2013 - Feb 28, 2013 N/A

Located in B-CS, Brazos Valley Counseling Services (BVCS) is the only 501(c)(3) non-profit in the Brazos Valley providing essential mental-health counseling to those that either do not have access to or cannot normally afford it. BVCS serves the entire 7-county Brazos Valley area and operates on a sliding scale fee based on income and household size. Most clients receive services for as little as $10 a session.

Throughout February, BVCS is sponsoring "Flock Your Friends!" By making a small donation, you can have as many as 50 flamingos nest in a friend’s yard overnight. Within 24 hours, BVCS volunteers will remove them. As with all donations to BVCS, funds raised from this event will provide direct services to BVCS clients.

"The Trip to Bountiful"

Feb 15, 2013 - Feb 24, 2013 Feb 15, 16, 22 & 23 (all 7:30 pm); and Feb 17 & 24 (both 2:00pm)

J. Philip Gibbs, Jr., Centre for the Performing Arts (Old Town Theatre), 1023 12th St., Huntsville, Texas
This is the poignant story of Mrs. Watts, an aging widow living with her son and daughter-in-law in a three-room flat in Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Watts imagines that if she can get away and return to her old home in the town of Bountiful, she is sure to regain her strength, dignity and peace of mind. So she attempts to run away, and when she reaches a bus station on the last part of her short journey.
When her son and daughter-in-law appear on the scene to take her back to Houston, she consents to return quietly, secure in the knowledge that the remainder of her existence will be enriched as a result of her last contact with Bountiful.
