King Oaks Community Lake, 8821 CR 175, Iola, TX 77861
Saturday, March 23, King Oaks, Bryan-College Station’s premier, master-planned community, will host a fishing derby featuring professional angler Jimmy Houston, who will be on hand from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. to give fishing tips to children and adults. The event starts at 10 a.m. and includes lunch, door prizes, a children’s bounce house and live music by the Texas Twisters.

Tickets are $10, and all proceeds will go toward the cost of a mortgage-free, custom home for wounded veteran Sgt. Monte Bernardo of the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. While serving his second tour of duty in Afghanistan, Bernardo was critically injured by an IED blast on July 4, 2012. Sgt. Bernardo has been selected by Operation FINALLY HOME to be honored with a custom home for him and his family. Those interested in supporting the project can register at AggielandVeteran.com or on the Operation FINALLY HOME Facebook page to receive updates and make donations.
