Pittsburgh, PA -- Pittsburgh Steelers fans are breathing a little easier Monday night, after waiting most of the day to hear how badly hurt the team's number one quarterback is following a motorcycle accident. Ben Roethlisberger suffered numerous facial fractures when he collided with a car in Pittsburgh Monday morning (06/12). He was not wearing a helmet.

Steelers president Art Rooney was optimistic as he walked past fans into Mercy Hospital. The accident grabbed the headlines and the attention of the Steelers Nation.

By noon, fans began gathering at Mercy Hospital, many praying for Roethlisberger's recovery.

Ben's father, Ken Roethlisberger, and his sister Carly arrived from Cincinnati.
Carly was in a basketball game there earlier. Ben's stepmother Brenda had arrived 45 minutes earlier.

Steelers backup quarterback Charlie Batch and safety Mike Logan were the first teammates to arrive at Mercy Hospital. They were followed by defensive end Brett Keisel and linebacker Clark Haggans. They were all concerned about their quarterback, the youngest ever to lead a team to a Super Bowl win.

One Steelers fan drove all the way from Youngstown, Ohio when she heard about Ben's accident.
