GORHAM, Maine (AP) - It wasn't ring around the collar that scared the wits out of Mara Ranger. It was a big snake in her washing machine. She was taking clothes out of the washer in her Maine farmhouse, when she made the frightening discovery. She told a local TV station she shut the lid and called for help. A state animal control officer pulled an 8-foot python out of the washer. The experts figure it got in through the pipes. Ranger says now she's going to be looking in her washer very carefully before doing anymore laundry.
