LOS ANGELES (AP) - Some artists complain when a political candidate whose views they don't share uses their music at rallies or in other campaign material. Then, there's Jackson Browne. He's suing John McCain and the Republican Party over the use of one of his songs. A recent TV ad for McCain makes use of the song "Running On Empty" and in a lawsuit, Browne says McCain and the GOP failed to get the proper license to use the song in the ad. The TV spot mocks Democrat Barack Obama for suggesting that people could conserve gas by making sure their tires are properly inflated. The suit also seeks to bar the McCain camp from using any of Browne's material in the future, and seeks damages. We probably don't need to tell you this, but will anyway: Browne is a liberal Democrat who has been a political activist over the years and wants it to be known he in no way endorses McCain.
