Mrs. Skow's class just completed a unit of study on weather and received a special visit from morning meteorologist Travis Herzog and morning anchor Barbara Smith. They participate in a service project in October where they trick or treat at a local nursing home, dressed in their Halloween costumes. The senior residents have plenty of smiles for these first graders and love seeing them dressed in their Halloween best! The class is active in gardening at the school, and grow their own herbs and vegetables right outside the classroom! And when Christmas break comes around, they spread peanut butter and seeds on pine cones and hang them all over the playground to feed the birds while we are away for the holidays. They string apples and cranberries too! The birds and squirrels remain well fed!
